CANDIDATES NECK AND NECK IN NEWCASTLE AND SWANSEA SEATS

In the Hunter region it’s possible the ALP will hold just two seats – those of Cessnock and Wallsend.
The focus is now on Newcastle and Swansea, which are yet to be declared.
Tim Owen is slightly ahead in Newcastle, while in Swansea it’s neck and neck.
An official outcome is not likely until later this week.
Current figures for the seats from the Electoral Commission website as of Monday night:

TIM OWEN (LIB) 51.8% 14,587 votes
JODI McKAY (ALP) 48.2% 13,558 votes

Swansea:
GARRY EDWARDS (LIB) 50.1% 11,011 votes
ROBERT COOMBES (ALP) 49.9% 11,021 votes
