ELDERLY WOMAN CRITICAL AFTER CAR PARK CRASH

An 83-year-old woman has sustained serious injuries, after plunging six metres in her car from a second storey car park at Tweed Heads.
The woman was attempting to leave a shopping centre just before midday yesterday, when she was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle.
Police say she drove on at speed and smashed through the safety barrier and plummeted six metres, before driving a short distance and crashing into an outdoor barbeque area.
The woman was treated by paramedics, before being taken to hospital.
She remains in a critical condition in the Tweed Heads ICU.
