LOCAL BOWLERS RECOGNISED AT NATIONAL AWARD CEREMONY

Two Northern Rivers bowlers have been recognised at the annual Bowls Australia awards for their success during the 2019-20 season.

Kira Bourke from Tweed Heads was a back-to-back winner, once again walking away with the ‘Under-18 Female Bowler of the Year’ title.

Meanwhile, Alstonville’s Peter Taylor was awarded ‘Male Bowler of the Year.’

“I’d like to thank my family for everything they’ve done for me, especially my mum who had got me into bowls and drove me around the countryside in my younger years,” Mr Taylor said.

Taylor ended the last rankings period with 324 points – 82 clear of the next best.
