50 of Queensland’s best and brightest surf lifesavers have been developing their skills at a leadership camp at Lennox Head.
The program develops the teenagers involvement and responsibility within the surf lifesaving movement and their own clubs.
“These young people are really stepping up. They’ve gone from one level right up to half of them could probably run a surf club now.”
Among the challenges at the camp, helping a beach goer with a broken leg, using only a first-aid kit and materials they could find on the beach.
“Just stepping outside the circle so some of those things weren’t readily available so they’ve now had to think of a different way to achieve those.”
The camp wraps up tomorrow.
