A furore erupted when the Roads and Traffic Authority reduced the Newell Highway’s speed limit to 100 kilometres an hour, but the change has sparked a surprising result.
Police say despite motorists having to drive ten kilometres an hour slower, the number of drivers booked for speeding has actually decreased since the change.
