POLICE DISAPPOINTED WITH OPERATION UNITE RESULTS

Police say they’re concerned about the number of people caught drink-driving on the Far North Coast during Operation Unite.
About 2000 drivers were breath-tested over the weekend, with 29 caught over the limit between the Richmond and Tweed Byron Commands.
One drink-driver was arrested for the seventh time, for allegedly being four times the legal limit.
“It is a concern particularly in view of the warnings we’ve been putting out there, this operation was heavily publicised and people aren’t heeding the warning unfortunately”
83 charges were laid for a range of other offences including assault, affray and street offences.
Police warn they’ll be out in force over the Christmas break.
