HIV REMAINS MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE

HIV remains a major health issue around the world and in our own backyard.
That’s the message from health authorities and support groups on World Aids Day.
“It’s contracted through blood, through sharing needles, it’s also contracted obviously through having unprotected sex.”
Around 450 people are living in HIV-AIDS on the Northern Rivers.
“People with HIV are ordinary folk who just want to get on with their lives. They’re no different to anybody living with say diabetes or with heart disease.”
A candlelight vigil to commemorate people who have died from Aids-related illness will be held at 7.30 tonight in Lismore’s Spinks Park.
