NRL CEO David Gallop and all 16 club bosses have gathered in Byron Bay to set the direction of the game for the next 12 months and beyond.
“What’s the game going to look like in five years’ time. So we’ve discussed the length of the season, how the rep program might play out, how many teams we’ll have.”
The clubs heard the 2010 season delivered record crowd numbers, television ratings and junior participation.
David Gallop believes the new independent commission will improve rugby league in the bush.
“I think everyone in the game hopes that the commission structure will give us greater efficiences in the governance of the game and the net result of that is hopefully greater funding to the grassroots.”
