Grafton’s Telstra call centre has shut its doors for the final time, despite an intense campaign by the community to save the jobs of 108 workers.
A public protest and petition containing more than 5,000 signatures failed to convince Telstra executives to reverse the decision.
The positions have been transferred to centres in Brisbane and Melbourne.
A skeleton staff will remain at the Grafton centre until the lease expires early next year.
