ANDERSON RUNNER-UP WHILE CALLINAN ELIMINATED IN SOUTH AFRICA

Ryan Callinan’s run at the Ballito Pro is over, with the Merewether surfer eliminated in the third round, a short time ago.

He never really got going, playing catch-up in the average conditions.

It means Callinan has missed the chance to consolidate a top 10 place in the rankings.

Last night, Phillipa Anderson finished runner-up in the women’s event, beaten by 2004 world champ Sofia Mulanovich.

The entire women’s competition was surfed in one day, Anderson looked strong throughout.

She’s climbed one place in the rankings to 11th.
