A young family escaped a blazing farmhouse at Scone early this morning.
Locals reported a big glow in the sky on the northern outskirts of the town at around two o’clock.
Firefighters from Scone and Aberdeen did what they could to combat the blaze.
The New England Highway was closed for two hours, to provide crews with access to hoses and hydrants, but little could be done to save the building, once known as Potter McQueen’s.
A man, woman and two children were woken by a neighbour, and escaped the fire uninjured.
