After a horrific winter of house fires that has so far claimed three lives in the Hunter alone, firefighters are aiming their latest prevention message at children.
They hope an early understanding of the dangers will save lives.
Pupils from Lambton Public School are among the finalists in an art competition being run by New South Wales Fire Brigades.
The winning designs will be painted on the outside wall of a fire station.
