Police say a man is lucky to be alive after he was confronted by a group and shot in the head in the Hunter Valley last night.
The drama unfolded in Wollombi Road at Muswellbrook around 7:30.
The 37 year old sought refuge in a house before driving himself to Muswellbrook Hospital.
Detectives spent today talking to neighbours but are yet to locate the weapon, believed to be a shotgun, or anyone involved.
“We’ve had a look at a couple of premises as well as some areas on the street but we haven’t had a chance to talk to the victim yet.”
It’s the 4th shooting incident in the Hunter within the space of two months.
