DUNGOG ROADS FULL OF HOLES

A peaceful drive through the country has become a thing of the past around Dungog, where the roads are in a very poor state.
Residents say repairs are desperately needed, especially if the region is to be home to a new dam.
Dungog is not the only local place with bad roads. Try the Bucketts Way for a rough drive. Even worse is Booral Road to Bulahdelah. This road which is barely wide enough for two cars is the alternate route for the highway if there is an accident. It is full of potholes and the safety fences are old and rusted and some are barely standing. If the new dam is built at Dungog these roads will also have increased traffic.
In view of this account of Dungog roads I believe they are no where near as bad as some roads within the Cessnock region and perhaps a story should be done on this area.
Roads such as Broke Road, within the very popular Pokolbin area, are absolutely appalling and to have this as a main road in and out of the ever growing vineyard area will only prove to turn tourists away from the place.
On a local road note, I would go so far as to say that Whitburn Street, Greta is the worst road in the Hunter Valley – and this includes some of the dirt roads in the area. There is not a single piece of tar that is not made up of pot holes on this road with residents having petitioned Cessnock Council with phone and letter complaints to be told that there is nothing to be done. This road has caused damage to both cars and people who walk/drive on this road however the council are not interested in using our rates to fix the issue. Perhaps a story could be done on the “Worst Hunter Road” and then the council may actually do something!
Try looking at the roads that those on the council live on, Ive heard that they are in great condition. I have a station wagon which is rather high of the ground and have dints in the under runners from hitting deep holes and others have torn entire wheels and chassy structures off. One person totalled a brand new car from hitting a pot hole which pretty much ripped their car apart. The roads shown on this clip are not even the worst. These people can afford to fix their own street roads. Fosterton road, needs guard rails.
