A 37-year-old Queensland man has died in an horrific road accident just south of Singleton in the Hunter Valley.
The man was a passenger in a ute that collided with a tow truck on the New England Highway just after 5am.
The ute’s 43-year-old driver was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a critical condition, while the truck’s driver is being treated for minor injuries.
A second ute was also caught up in the accident, its 56-year-old driver was taken to Singleton Hospital for treatment.
The highway was closed as crash investigators examined the scene.
