One person died and another is fighting for life after a car and truck collided in the Hunter Valley.
Emergency services were called to Whittingham at around 5am.
The car went down an embankment, which made it difficult for emergency crews to free a patient from the car.
Paramedics have confirmed that there was one deceased person in the car along with another patient treated in the car for lower leg fractures and chest injuries.
This patient was trapped for around 90 minutes, before being transported to John Hunter Hospital via Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a serious condition.
2 other patients including the truck driver were treated at scene by Paramedics, and transported to Singleton hospital in a stable condition.
The truck driver sustained a laceration to his head from this accident.
