Police are urging parents to remind their children about stranger danger.
It comes after a suspected abduction attempt at a popular Merewether sporting oval around 1:30 on Saturday.
A man came from behind bushes and tried to convince a 10-year-old to go for walk with him.
The girl screamed and ran back to her family, who was watching a football game.
“It’s just a concern that it was a bit brazen. There was a lot of families there at the time. There was a lot of activity. Again, just a warning to families, always be aware.”
The girl was able to give police a good description of the man, who had brown wavy hair and an arm-length tattoo.
