A 20-year-old man has died when he was struck by a car while walking on a busy road at Merewether around 4 this morning.
A 77-year-old taxi driver was unable to avoid a collision on City Road.
Police say the man was wearing dark clothing and may have been in the wrong.
“Simultaneous to that collision being reported to police we were actually receiving phone calls from members of the public who were indicating they had seen a man walking on the road.”
