NEWCASTLE MOURNS AFTER CHRISTCHURCH SHOOTING

In Newcastle, hundreds are expected to stand in solidarity during a vigil at Mayfield’s Sultan Faith Mosque on Saturday night.

The community today in mourning, with floral tributes laid throughout the Hunter.

“We started to get visitors here from the word of community really very appreciated when we see the whole community support us, come to visit us, flowers everywhere.”

The vigil will follow Saturday’s evening prayers and the community is welcome to attend.

“Our aim tonight is to bring the community together to affirm our stance against violence, against hatred and to come together and say we as a community support each other.”
