Trainer Paul Perry also needs a few horses to drop away so Danzibaa can secure a run in the Premier’s Cup, while Oaks-bound filly Caiseal is borderline for the Grand Prix Stakes.
Perry has taken a team of five runners to Brisbane for the Winter Carnival, including Newport.
The veteran stayer will contest next week’s O’Shea Stakes before lining up a week later in the Group 1 Brisbane Cup.
