KOALA’S ON THEIR WAY HOME TO GUNNEDAH
There’s renewed hope the koalas that were removed from Gunnedah’s Waterways Wildlife Park by the RSPCA will finally be returned.
Park owners, Nancy and Colin Small say their lawyer, Peter Long, received a fax late yesterday, advising the seven koala’s that were seized in February will be handed back to the park over Easter.
It comes as Member for Tamworth, Peter Draper, renews calls for an inquiry into the actions of the RSPCA, which claimed the koala’s were malnourished.
One of them has since been put down.
The Greens are also supporting calls for an inquiry.

The Gunnedah Community is STILL WAITING for the return of the Koalas taken from the Waterways Wildlife Park owned by Col & Nancy Small. The RSPCA has not communicated with the Smalls, nor allowed them to know where they are and have not allowed Nancy to visit them. They should have been returned by 3 April. There is a Public Rally on Saturday 10 April at 12 noon, chaired by former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson and supported by several high profile people, calling for a Parliamentary Enquiry into this saga. The Koalas at Gunnedah are only one of many similar incidents, such as the shooting of Ruth Downey’s cattle at Pilliga in a very cruel and inhumane way, leaving 13 motherless calves. These and many other stories like them have caused public outcry. So much could be said but it seems to be a never-ending story.
