LONE PINE DEDICATED TO NEWCASTLE MEMORIAL PARK

A lone pine has been planted at Newcastle Memorial Park in memory of fallen diggers, a century after the signing of the Armistice.
Today, servicemen and women gathered as a special plaque was also unveiled at the Beresfield park.
Children from eight local schools took part in the ceremony.
The tree is dedicated to the hundreds of Hunter soldiers who perished in the First World War.
