COAST PUTS ON A LIGHTNING SHOW

Last night was a good time to stay inside and look out the window, because mother nature put on an amazing lightshow.

The Q1 copped a direct hit, just one of 13 thousand lightning strikes in 5 and a half hours across the south east.

Luckily, the Gold Coast escaped power outages that affected more than 25 thousand homes.

There was also heavy but patchy rain, mainly in the Hinterland.

21 mils fell in Springbrook, 18 at Natural Bridge, Hinze Dam had 11, While Oxenford and Miami copped a 10 millimeter soaking.

It was an amazing early start to the summer storm season.
