Traffic congestion at the Adamstown Rail Gates has long plagued Hunter drivers, and now there are renewed calls for the state government to address the issue.
Independent candidate for Newcastle, Karen Howard, says conversation has been too focused on heavy rail in Newcastle’s CBD and it’s time a solution was found at Adamstown.
“There’s certainly plenty of money flowing from the lease of the Newcastle port. One of the great uses for that money could be to direct, re-direct the coal trains away from the suburban streets, have another look at the Fassifern to Hexham bypass.”
