It had to happen, with temperatures in the high thirties and strong westerly winds Tuesday afternoon, several bushfires sprung up across the Hunter Valley.
A scrub fire on the western outskirts of Denman is causing concern for rural property owners but it was a bushfire near Raymond Terrace that had fire fighters calling in backup.
Fire units from as far as Maitland and Medowie were called to Raymond Terrace when fire sprang to life close to homes around 3.00pm.
One fire fighter suffered smoke inhalation battling flames that came within metres of the back fences of houses near the Muree Golf Course.
Firefighters also battled spot fires at Heatherbrae.
