A young driver education program pioneered in Port Macquarie is among the winners of the New South Wales Community Achievement Awards announced at Bathurst last night.
The Power of Choice program gives year-11 students in Port Macquarie a confronting insight into the consequences of making the wrong decision behind the wheel.
It picked up the Community of the Year award in its category.
The local committee behind the program would like to see Power of Choice adopted across the state.
