FORMER TWEED MAYOR WILL NOT STAND AT SEPTEMBER ELECTION

Former Tweed Shire mayor Katie Milne will not contest the next local government election.

The Greens representative is stepping away from the chamber to help care for a family member.

Councillor Milne was first elected in 2008 and went on to hold the top job for five years.

Mayor Chris Cherry has paid tribute to Councillor Milne saying her departure from council will be a “huge loss”.

She will continue to serve up until September’s poll.
