MONEY TO HELP MYLES

A landmark compensation payout of $9.6-million may go to a Tamworth youth, who suffered horrific brain injuries after being sucked down a stormwater drain on the Gold Coast in 2003.

Myles Hill, then a year seven student, was stuck underwater for at least eight minutes during the incident at The Southport School.

The payout, which would be a Queensland record, has been brokered after a six year battle between the family’s lawyers and those representing the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane.

The deal will go before that state’s Supreme Court for approval.

Myles, now 18, lives on his family’s Tamworth property, and requires 24 hour care.
