TRAGIC ACCIDENT CLAIMS YOUNG LIFE

Police are urging motorists to take extra care on wet roads, following a tragic car accident on the Pacific Highway near Taree.

A 27-year-old Raymond Terrace woman died late yesterday, after losing control of her car and slamming into a fire truck.

  1. Tragic events such as this serve as a reminder to RTA to speed-up the installation of median barrier to existing, and under-construction freeway/dual carriageway class roads.

    Such installation should, of course, be a standardised item on new works, at the moment RTA will do so where the unpaved median is less than 10 metres, many lengths are typically 13 metres though.

    In the UK, the Highways Agency will fit median barrier out to 100m.

    Done, of course – to prevent cross-over crashes.
