16 year-old Josh Beard has won this year’s 1.5-kilometre Forresters Beach Ocean Swim.
110 people competed in the swim, twice as many as last year.
It’s the first stage of the Coke Memorial, which raises money for bone marrow research.
Beard was well ahead of the pack when he crossed the finish line in a time of 13 minutes, 49 seconds.
Catherine Boorer took out the women’s division.
The second stage of the Coke Memorial is a surf contest, which will be held at the end of the month.
