DUSTY DAYS LEAD TO WATER SPLURGE

The Hastings has set a record for the year by consuming a record-breaking amount of water for one day, as residents turned on their hoses to wash away debris left behind from last week’s dust storms.

Saturday’s excessive water consumption of more than 25 million litres was the equivalent to what the region would expect during peak summer holiday periods.

The heavy usage comes at a time when the flow down the Hastings River continues to decrease.
