Byron Bay’s Garrett Parkes has cruised through this morning’s round 2 heat of the Mens Pro at Surfest in Newcastle.
In solid five foot conditions, the 21-year-old advanced with a total wave score of 11.76 behind fellow Aussie, Tom Whitaker.
“Garret Parks from Byron Bay – nice big section here! Biggest turn of the day, pretty much.”
He’ll hit the waves again tomorrow in a round three showdown against Brazil’s, Willian Cardoso and Marco Fernandez and Australia’s, Cooper Chapman.
