MACCAS SUBMISSIONS TOP 1,100 MARK

A proposal to build a fourth McDonald’s outlet in Port Macquarie has drawn more public objections than the town’s controversial Glasshouse development.

Council staff are now sifting through more than 1,100 submissions, mostly from neighbouring residents and parents of children who attend the nearby Catholic primary and secondary schools.

Protests have been held at the Greenmeadows Drive site, amid concerns over traffic, noise and social impact.

The application, for the restaurant and drive-through, will be determined by a development assessment panel and if consensus isn’t reached at that level, the matter can be referred to council.
