The former mayor of Lake Macquarie, Doug Carley, has pleaded guilty to the aggravated indecent assault of a 12-year-old boy at a Newcastle unit in November 2008.
He was due to stand trial today in Newcastle District Court, but because of the guilty plea, the former school teacher has been remanded in custody for sentencing on October 2nd.
Carley was Mayor from 1991 to 1993, when he resigned after a vote of no confidence by his colleagues.
