A 74 year old former big band crooner has taken out the inaugural Golden Idol.

He earned a $1,000 cheque for his efforts.
More than 100 people took part in the Gold Coast City Council sponsored event for over 55s.
Organisers from Volunteering Gold Coast are already planning for next year.
