The Greens have backed calls to stop exploration for coal-seam gas in the Gunnedah basin, until an independent water study is carried out.
Gas and mining giant, Santos, is currently drilling in the area, sparking a public meeting in Mullaley where farmers voiced concerns about the potential impacts of mining on rich farmland.
