The Northern Tablelands electorate has received two additional Legal Aid solicitors.
One will be based in Armidale’s Courthouse, with the other to call Moree home.
It’s anticipated they’ll help to speed up cases at the committal stage, with both locations seeing a significant backlog of matters to be heard.
“A lot of cases are proceeding to trial, that ordinarily wouldn’t go to trial because we simply don’t have enough Legal Aid solicitors on the ground to assist with the smooth running of the court process.”
They’ll both start work next month.
