Newcastle’s historic Fort Scratchley was overrun on Monday with visitors.
An open day at the fort commemorated a World War II action, 67 years ago, when the the fort’s guns fired back at a Japanese submarine that was shelling the city.
Hundreds of people took the opportunity to be guided through the fort’s recently restored tunnels.
