A 48-year-old woman is in a stable condition in Inverell hospital after suffering a gun shot wound to the knee.
At around 11 o’clock last night, police were called to a property 40 kilometres north of Inverell following reports of a shooting.
A 52-year-old Inverell man was arrested at the scene before being taken to Inverell police station for questioning.
It’s believed the man and woman were known to each other.
