PREMIER DEFENDS NEW TOURLE ST BRIDGE
The Premier has rebuffed a question in state parliament from Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann, about why the government has only built a two-lane bridge to replace the Tourle Street bridge.
The new span opened last week, amid complaints it’s not wide enough to deal with the high traffic volumes on Kooragang Island.
But Nathan Rees told question time it’s been a great success, creating 50 jobs and coming in $3-million below budget, and ahead of schedule.
“A fine example of the New South Wales government delivering essential infrastructure projects around the state, to support jobs, support employment and to improve future growth prospects.”
