JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED

Guyra residents have welcomed the news that two new doctors will soon arrive in town.
Guyra’s sole physician, Dr Danke, resigned last month, citing a heavy work load as a key reason for his departure.
Guyra MPS Manager, Tessa Capsanis acknowledged the demanding, yet vital role rural doctors play.
“The role as a GP in a country town is multi-faceted, so it’s not only looking after the whole health of the community but also individual help, which means they’ll be coming here in hours, after hours for emergency treatment, ” said Ms Capsanis.
To help ease the work load, Hunter New England Health and the Guyra Shire Council are currently recruiting two new doctors.
Both positions are expected to be finalised by the end of the month.
