UNE DEGREE FOR RURAL SOCIAL WORKERS
The University of New England is offering a new degree aimed at meeting the critical shortage of social workers in rural and regional areas.
The Bachelor of Social Work is the first of its kind, specialising in specific facets affecting the bush.
63 students have enrolled in the four-year degree.
The Member for Northern Tablelands, Richard Torbay, says there is a need for 400 more social workers in New South Wales alone.
