Dorrigo’s rail museum has never been opened to the public – but that could change following a visit by the state’s tourism minister.
Adam Marshall says the government will support a bid by the museum to build a $300,000 coach terminal and amenities block at the centre.

That would be a GREAT TOURIST ATTRACTION, even us in southern Sydney would and do visit the site.Even just to look over the fence line and take photographs. Of the trains that used to run on our lines in NSW.

Ned, we have never had funds for a car park for 382 cars, as required by Bellingen Shire Council. Jim, you are wrong, we have never had funds to build a car park, or a coach turning area, or to widen the street, or to rebuild the intersection, or to connect to the sewer, all as required by Bellingen Shire Council, before we are allowed to open. Dave Owen, you are telling lies, no one has been ripped off. We have saved the biggest collection of preserved trains in the World and we are proud of that. Our Members have donated over $9 million to save these priceless items and all you can do is throw unfounded criticism. All of the $9 million has been donated voluntarily and it is all accounted for and annually audited, no one has been “ripped off”. It is easy to be an armchair critic, peddling twisted bitterness.
