Federal Water Minister, Senator Penny Wong, has made a brief visit to Moree.
The minister met with local irrigators to discuss concerns over water reforms and management issues.
The minister also pledged $2.8-million for the Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Management Authority to help fund sub-surface irrigation conversions.
Ms Wong says the investment should see an estimated 400 megalitres of water, returned to local rivers and wetlands.
