COUNTRY SHOW TURNS DEADLY

A Friday night at a country show in the Hunter Valley has ended in a fight that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Raymond Terrace man.
Show organisers are frustrated the altercation occurred despite extra security being present.
Every year i take my children to the maitland show and i have not seen one security guard walk around once, all i see is young teenage people walk around the show drinking alcohol and picking a fight, which i think is quite discusting and desturbing towards my family and something really needs to be done before there is another death over a lack of sucurity.
Thanks for your time

It is easy to criticise the organisers of the Show, the local Police, Security
personnel when something as tragic as the death of this young man occurs.
But it is NOT their fault. It is overdue that the citizens of Maitland &
surrounding districts took it upon themselves to uplift their behaviour and
responsbility towards themselves, their families, relatives & friends.
Nearly every weekend we hear of incidents alcohol related late at night within
the Newcastle, Lake Mcaquarie & Coalfields districts.
But despite the efforts of our dedicated police officers many of whom are
underpaid & overworked sad & avoidable tragedies continue to occur.
There is no easy solution people, each & every one of us needs to be
accountable for our actions or lack of actions.
to be honest i think they should ban alcohole at public activities all together concidering there are alot of younger kids around. as much as it is the young kids to blame there were not enough police patroling the area i was standing aroudn with my friends and to girls started arguing and grabing each other i looked around and not one police officer was to be seen whats that telling you?
thanks for your time!

I was at the show on Saturday night, the police were Everywhere, and doing their job too! It is unfair to blame security and police efforts at an event attended by so many people! Blame those stupid kids who have absolutely no reguard for other people or the consiquences of their actions!
