NEW TOWN FOR LOWER HUNTER
A new town will soon spring up in the Hunter Valley, after the New South Wales Government approved the rezoning of land near Branxton.
The Huntlee New Town development will create homes for 20,000 people, but the government’s decision is being described by conservationists as a blow for the environment and biodiversity.
Environmentalists also claim the developer, Hardie Holdings, has donated $455,000 to the ALP since 2001.
The project will include 7,500 residential lots, plus commercial land covering about 160 hectares.
