Teachers throughout the New England and northwest will stop work on Friday, to vote on the New South Wales Government’s offer of a 12.5 per cent pay rise.
After a long-running battle with the Teachers’ Federation, the Education Department has offered the deal over the next three years.
Under the agreement, the teacher transfer system will be retained – allowing teachers in rural and isolated areas to relocate if they wish, later in their careers.
