Mining company Shenhua has another hurdle to jump to get its Watermark Coal Mine project off the ground.
Given conditional approval last week, Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt now says the water management plan will be referred to the Independent Expert Scientific Committee.
The minister has promised if the committee isn’t satisfied, he won’t approve it.
Two other reports also need to be signed off by the minister before the project gets the nod.
