COUNCIL SEEKS SOLUTION TO WATER SHORTAGE

Tamworth Regional Council could soon see part of its water sharing plan suspended, allowing it access to ground water that’s been previously reserved for irrigators.
Mayor Col Murray will write to the state’s water minister to request the suspension in a bid to combat the city’s water shortage.
“If it does progress to levels four and five it will have an impact on pretty much all businesses around the city, it was felt that you know it was worthy of discussion and worthy of a request to the minister to consider that.”
Meanwhile, as of today Nundle has been placed on level two water restrictions, while Moonbi-Kootingal and Bendemeer will go to level one.
