BERRY GROWERS BUSTED BY EPA

Two Coffs Coast blueberry growers have been issued with penalties and clean up notices after random inspections by EPA compliance teams.
On one farm at Sandy Beach, inspectors allegedly found multiple breaches in relation to the storage and disposal of pesticide and chemical containers.
Officers reported opened and unlabelled drums strewn across the property, at risk of polluting a nearby waterway.
On another blueberry farm near Woolgoolga, EPA officers found evidence of melted plastics and a large pile of partially burnt plastics, tyres, pipes, and white goods.
